10 Ways to Add Luxury into your Home

10 Ways to Add Luxury into your Home

Are you looking to add high-end features to your home this year? At ACI, while working within your budget, ACI always aims to achieve a luxurious and sophisticated designer look. There are so many ways to get a custom, upscale design without breaking the bank. We wanted to share some tips with you so that you can also achieve this look in your home.

Strategic styling placement, necessary updates, and a bit of splurging can make all the difference, here are ACI's 10 top tips for adding luxury to your home.

Neutral Hues

It’s no secret that Alisha Crabtree Interiors loves a neutral, calming palette when designing our client's homes. Designing with a range of neutrals, which include greys, whites, and beiges allows for your space to feel larger and more sophisticated. If our clients enjoy color and want to incorporate it, we always like to balance the space out with neutrals to keep the space from feeling too busy. When designing with neutrals, allows us to also play up textures and patterns more, which gives our designs a layered and thoughtful look.

Strategically placing various types of lighting in your home can make your space feel much more upscale. Relying solely on your home's overhead lighting can feel harsh, sterile, and just plain boring! Include table lamps, pendants, wall scones, and floor lamps in your home for a well-balanced ambiance.

2. Upholstery

Have an older piece of furniture that is looking frumpy and overused? Reupholster it and bring it to life again! There are so many stunning options as well, ranging from materials such as velvet to patterns such as floral or geometric. Check out this fantastic before and after below.

3. Wallpaper/Grasscloth

Bringing visual interest to your walls is definitely a great way to add luxury to your home. Bring life to the room, and in the case of grasscloth, it allows for amazing texture to be seen as well.

4. Adding High-End Materials

Whether it is finishes, furniture, or decor accessories, high-end materials can make a very luxurious impact. Leather, marble, antique gold, crystal, and solid wood are great materials to use.

5. Add or Replace Lighting

Strategically placing various types of lighting in your home can make your space feel much more upscale. Relying solely on your home's overhead lighting can feel harsh, sterile, and just plain boring! Include table lamps, pendants, wall scones, and floor lamps in your home for a well-balanced ambiance.

5. Go Larger with Art

When in doubt, go bigger with art if you can. Don’t make a design mistake and place an 8x10” art piece on a large blank wall. Interior design involves a lot of scale consideration, and by going larger with art than smaller, your space will feel more expensive. Designer Pro Tip: when going for a photo gallery look, opt for frames with a larger mat!

6. Fresh Florals

Floral arrangements whether from a flower shop or some from your backyard bring a beautiful touch of nature that lets the space feel uplifted. We incorporate an arrangement somewhere in the space in every design that we do.

7. Declutter

Rearranging, decluttering, or investing in storage solutions such as custom cabinetry will make your home feel more open, thus more expansive and expensive. The custom cabinetry done below is a great way to showcase the pieces you love while also storing away the items you don’t want to see every day.

8. Add High Contrast

A great place to be more adventurous and play around with high contrast is in your powder room. This is not only a great tip for making your home feel more high-end but also makes your space feel more dramatic. Try going for a darker wall color paired with white trim on your doors with a light cabinet. Or the opposite, with light walls with a black sink like the one below from Alisha Crabtree Interior Design.

10. Invest in Window Treatments

Adding texture and layering your walls is a must at Alisha Crabtree Interiors. Whether that be in the form of drapery or roman shades, investing in unique window treatments that are tailored to your home and style will elevate your space and make it very high-end. Designer Pro Tip: You can add multiple window treatments on one window! We love the way Studio McGee did this in their bedroom with drapery and shades in a neutral color palette.

These are only our top 10 ways to add luxury to your home and in no specific order. At ACI we consider many factors based on our client’s needs and goals for their home.
